Design your protocol (10 min)

Design a 10-15 minute interview.

• Generate candidate questions
• Edit and refine your questions. Good questions:
• Are clear to the informant
• Don't lead to the answer you want
• Ask about things the informant would actually know
• Test them on someone in the class
• Think about how to establish rapport
• Account for time

Conduct your interviews (25 min)

Try to interview at least two people and let them interview you.

Attempt to take as many notes as possible.

After you're done, provide them feedback.

• Were the questions interesting?
• Did you trust them enough to share the truth?

Reflection (10 min)

• What surprising thing did you learn about the topic?
• What was hard about doing interviews?
• What questions did work well?
• What questions did not work well?
• Do you trust the data you got? Why or why not?
